US bans Chinese Telecom Equipment to ensure national security

The U.S. has formally announced that it will no stop authorizing Chinese Telecom equipment including Hytera, Hikvision, Dahua, ZTE and Huawei stating them as to be national security threat.

The announcement comes from the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) this week aiming to fortify national security.

The Chinese Telecom Equipment and their Video Surveillance Threat

These Chinese telecom equipment and their video surveillance have already been under scrutiny since March 12, 2021 as per the FCC’s covered list.

Jessica Rosenworcel, FCC Chairwoman mentioned that the FCC is committed to protecting the national security and because of that untrustworthy Chinese Telecom Equipment needs to be scrutinized and banned after several investigations.

The ban is here to ensure security and safety for the American people against telecommunications and their spying behaviors. This announcement came after two months since the regulator added the Pacific Network Corp and China Unicom to  their covered list in an effort to curtail the reach of Chinese state-owned carriers in U.S. networks.

Not only the US, but the United Kingdom has also banned installations of Chinese telecom equipment on sensitive government locations.

The UK government also restricted Chinese telecom equipment

The UK Government announced, “Departments have been advised that no such equipment should be connected to departmental core networks and that they should consider whether they should remove and replace such equipment where it is deployed on sensitive sites rather than awaiting any scheduled upgrades”.
