Seven teenagers of LAPSUS$ hackers group arrested by UK Police

London City Police arrested seven teenagers between the ages of 16 and 21 for their connections with the prolific LAPSUS$ hackers gang which was behind the breach of NVIDIA, Ubisoft, Samsung, LG, Okta and Microsoft.

The news about LAPSUS$ hacker gang was first reported by Bloomberg stating a sixteen year old teen could be the mastermind behind the recent cyberattacks claimed the LAPSUS$ hacker group, and have made almost $14 million in Bitcoin via the hacking.

Who are LAPSUS$ hackers?

LAPSUS$ hackers have become very active in 2022, they seem to be a group of hackers from different countries and is suspected to be headed by a teenage mastermind who has made massive profits out of data breaches. The hacking group has breached several companies in recent times, including Okta, NVIDIA, Ubisoft, LG and Microsoft.

London Police arrested a few teenagers this week, and when one of the parents was interviewed he said the following, “I had never heard of any of this until recently,” the teen’s father. “He’s never talked about any hacking, but he is very good at computers and spends a lot of time on the computer. I always thought he was playing games.”

According to security reporter Brian Krebs, the teen aka ringleader of LAPSUS$ hacker group has purchased Doxbin last year, a portal for sharing personal information of targets but not before leaking the data base of Doxbin to Telegram.

LAPSUS$ hackers and their acts of crime

The LAPSUS$ hacker group is also seen actively recruiting insiders via social media platforms including Reddit, Telegram, and other third party forums since November 2021. It also should be noted that this same gang was the one behind the Electronic Arts data breach that occurred on July 2021.

LAPSUS$ hackers have been very active recently and has been the don of hacking world after their recent big profile data breaches, and with 47,000 subscribers on Telegram with actively growing audience network.

The hacking group’s operational security measures have left some tracks which allowed the law enforcement officials of the UK to trace back a few hackers and arrest them for their acts. On their recent update from LAPUS$, the group mentioned most of their members are on a vacation this week and will be quiet for some time and announced that they will leak more stuff ASAP.
